How To Motivate Yourself to Workout, Even When You're Busy
Getting to workout isn’t easy for a lot of us. In between working all day long, and dealing with different commitments outside of work, it can get tough to take that time for ourselves. Believe it or not, now a days I easily skip working out because I am busy, I prefer to work and in all honestly, I’m not very motivated to exercise. I needed to remind myself what needs to be done and I wanted to share with you guys how I help my clients stay motivated even when things get really busy. After all, it is a choice.
DETERMINE YOUR GOALS
The only person who can determine your health and fitness goals is you. Make some time to write down a list of your fitness-related goals and stick to it. Do you want more lean muscle? Do you want a stronger upper body? Do you want to run faster? Do you want to be more flexible? This is all up to you to decide and figure out. Now it’s time to put those goals into action.
MAKE A PLAN
If you are a busy person, you understand how difficult it can be to make time to workout, but that’s what planning ahead is for. Every Sunday, sit down and decide what days and times you want to work out and what workout you’d like to do. Also plan when you are going to wash your hair and not ruin your blow out during a sweaty workout the very next morning that way you can not use this excuse and skip your workout!
BOOK NON-REFUNDABLE CLASSES
This is one way that a lot of us get to the gym. Booking a non-refundable gym class makes you more committed to showing up, because who likes to lose money? If you really have trouble making it to the gym, consider this an extra source of motivation since it messes with your wallet.
LISTEN TO NEW PLAYLISTS, PODCAST, AUDIOBOOKS, TV SHOWS…
If you think you’re too busy to workout, then you’re likely too busy to catch up on all of your favorite tv shows, podcasts, read a book, or discover some new music. Solve this problem by doing both at the same time. Keep in mind that this is best for a solo workout if you decide not to book a gym class and can help you enjoy your cardio session more.
MAKE IT A GROUP EFFORT
If you don’t enjoy solo workouts, make it a group activity. Gather your friends or co-workers and hit up the gym together. Try a group spin or yoga class to get you started, as these are either really fun or relaxing.
